The Ultimate Guide to Understanding Perspective

There are so many ways to look at life!

When you think about it, there are views to be had about everything!

These views - your perspective - create how you see and interact with life.

They are not the facts of life. They are your views of those facts of life.

Your perspective is behind whether you leave or stay, how you dress, how you vote, how much you work, and whether you dance.

Your perspective also determines your idea of success, happiness and fulfillment. That’s all pretty important. So, let’s take a closer look at this word, perspective.

Perspective n. A particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.

With that in mind, how do you measure the impact your perspective is having on your life?

Well, you ask yourself a few questions.

Am I thriving?

Am I growing?

Am I expanding?

Or am I getting smaller?

Am I becoming less engaged in life?

Am I living a life that is not me?

If you are thriving, growing and expanding then the impact is great!

But if you are getting smaller, becoming less engaged in life and are not living the life you want then you can see that your perspective is getting in the way of the life you know you can live.

If this is the case, then the question is, "Can you change your path?"

Well, let’s look at the definition of “perspective” again.

Perspective n. A particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.

Interesting definition.

So, did you choose that point with which to view or was it given to you at birth?

Hmmmm.

Well, let’s answer that question.

Have you ever changed your mind about anything?

Well, there you go!

A change of mind is a shift in your point of view. So you can see that your perspective is not set in stone and it is not who you are. It is what you see from where you are standing. If you never move from that point, then your perspective will remain the same. If you do, well then, you will see the change.

So much of what we are taught by the influences around us creates our perspective about life and often times it is done at such a young age that we think that it is who we are. We think we have always viewed life in this particular way. The definition of PERSPECTIVE does not say “the” point of view. It says, “a” point of view.

Your perspective is not who you are, it is created by you from experiences and can change on a dime. THAT is exceptionally powerful!

You can be introduced to new ways to see life through education, relationships, religion, and of course your daily experiences. You can be given challenges that force you to see life in a new way. Sometimes these changes are bad and sometimes good. Some shifts take us off our path and others put us back on our path.

The most important part is to recognize that your perspective is just your view of life.

It is not who you are and that you can change it.

But how?

You must simply change your mind.

But in order to accomplish this, you must go back to our 5 steps to becoming an ARTIST.

In order to change your mind you must Step 1. Be Willing to ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE. But in order to accept the challenge you must be willing to confront what the challenge is. Not what you think it is or what it appears to be, but what it really is.

You must be willing to be honest with yourself.

What is in front of me? What are the facts?

Is my life not going as I expected?

Do I wake up sad or disillusioned?

I am frustrated or a bit angry about this particular area of my life?

You must be willing to love yourself enough to trust yourself to answer these questions without bias. This may take many tries, (seeing what is in front of us is often disappointing and we want to alter or ignore it, so we don’t have to see it) but it is crucial to get past the first step. It is vital to growth and change.

Maybe you made some choices that put you on the wrong path for a while. That’s okay! It’s all part of the experience that helps you make up your own mind.

Your entire life can change with one thought; one shift of perspective.

Wow!

Use your experiences of life - good, bad and ugly to enrich and empower your choices.

You deserve to live a great life.

Just make up your mind to create it!

You are an ARTIST.

I see it.

With Great Love,

Annie
